McALLEN, Texas – The city of McAllen is reminding residents that they must obtain a permit before holding a garage sale within city limits.
The permit costs $20 and is available online through the city's permitting portal at onlinepermits.mcallen.net. Residents should secure the permit before conducting the sale.
The city's Health, Code Compliance and Animal Care Services Department issues garage sale permits Monday through Friday. Department business hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., but the last permit is issued at 4:30 p.m. each day.
The reminder applies to garage sales held at properties inside McAllen. Residents planning a sale should allow enough time to complete the permit process before the event date.
