McAllen Public Library and ENTRE RGV Film Center & Regional Archive will host a free bilingual camera-less filmmaking workshop Thursday, Aug. 6.
Cine Sin Cámara: Camera-less Filmmaking Workshop will run from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in Meeting Room AB at the library’s Meeting Center, 4001 N. 23rd St. The program is open to all ages, and materials will be provided.
Participants will work directly on strips of film instead of recording images with a camera. Using art materials and found objects, they will alter the film frame by frame and learn how color, texture and light can create moving images when projected.
The individual film strips will be assembled into a collaborative work and shown during a group screening. The hands-on session is designed to introduce experimental filmmaking in an accessible setting and does not require previous filmmaking experience.
ENTRE RGV Film Center & Regional Archive supports filmmaking, film preservation and film culture in the Rio Grande Valley. The workshop is part of McAllen Public Library’s community arts programming.
