South Texas Health System Children’s will host its fifth annual Back-to-School Block Party on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 9 to 11 a.m. in the hospital’s main parking lot at 1102 W. Trenton Road in Edinburg.
The free community event will help local families prepare for the upcoming school year with school supplies, live entertainment, games, health screenings and a resource expo featuring community partners.
Supplies will include notebooks, pencils, pens, crayons, colored pencils, glue and scissors. The first 100 students to arrive will also receive a free treat.
Hospital officials said the event is designed to support children and families while connecting them with health and community resources before classes begin.
