South Texas College welcomed 36 new students to the fourth cohort of the Texas A&M Engineering Academy at STC.
The students attended a New Student Conference and Howdy Day at STC’s Pecan Campus, where they and their families learned about academic resources, program expectations and the support available as they begin the fall semester co-enrolled at STC and Texas A&M University.
The academy allows students to begin an Aggie engineering degree close to home while building a strong academic foundation. Students can later transition to Texas A&M in College Station or the university’s Higher Education Center in McAllen.
Program leaders encouraged the new cohort to build study groups, manage their time and use the support services available to them as they take on challenging engineering, math and science courses.
