The Pharr Economic Development Corporation and UTRGV Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Center have launched The Art of Entrepreneurship, a new series connecting business development with the Rio Grande Valley creative community.

The inaugural event was held at the Pharr Global Business Hub and brought together entrepreneurs, artists, business leaders and community members.

The program focused on the overlap between artistic expression and entrepreneurship, including vision, innovation, resilience and the willingness to create something new.

Guests heard from Augusto Contreras, founder of Creative Arts Studio, and other local creative voices while also taking part in networking and viewing work by Rio Grande Valley artists.

Several original works were selected to remain on display at the Pharr Global Business Hub for three months, giving the business space a rotating local arts presence.

Pharr EDC President and CEO Victor Perez said the series reflects the idea that entrepreneurship extends beyond traditional business models and that creativity can help fuel innovation and economic growth.

The effort also gives UTRGV entrepreneurship network another platform to connect with local founders, artists and small business owners in Hidalgo County.
