McALLEN, Texas – McAllen Public Library will host its fourth annual Back-to-School Bash from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Palm View Branch Library, 3401 Jordan Road.
The event is free and open to families while supplies last. Students entering prekindergarten through 12th grade are encouraged to bring their own backpacks to receive school supplies, hygiene kits and educational materials.
Community partners will distribute supplies and share information about programs and services available during the year. Participating organizations will include schools, colleges and universities, health care organizations, nonprofit agencies and community service providers. RGVeducator with Aimee Nunez also is scheduled to participate.
Financial aid specialists from South Texas College will be available to offer guidance on college planning, higher education and career pathways.
Library Director Kate P. Horan said the library continues to be a place where families can find resources that support learning and growth. The event also will include raffle prizes, interactive activities and educational opportunities.
Mayor Javier Villalobos said the bash reflects McAllen’s investment in students and is intended to help children begin the school year with confidence and the tools they need to succeed.
