EDINBURG, Texas – DHR Health has again earned The Joint Commission’s Advanced Certification in Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement.
The recertification recognizes compliance with standards for patient safety, evidence-based treatment, care coordination and outcome improvement in joint-replacement programs.
DHR Health’s program follows patients from preoperative evaluation and education through surgery, rehabilitation, recovery and long-term follow-up. Orthopedic surgeons, nurses, rehabilitation therapists and support staff work together on individualized care plans.
Hip and knee replacement may be recommended for patients with severe joint damage, chronic pain and reduced mobility when medication, therapy and other conservative treatments no longer provide adequate relief.
The Joint Commission reviews clinical processes, staff coordination, performance measurement and patient education before awarding advanced certification. DHR said the recognition reflects its continuing effort to provide complex orthopedic care close to home for Rio Grande Valley residents.
