EDINBURG, Texas — CASA of Hidalgo County is seeking more local foster and adoptive families as the organization works to help children in the child-welfare system remain connected to the Rio Grande Valley.
The organization plans a free Foster and Adoption Recruitment Event from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at the UTRGV Ballroom, 1201 W. University Drive in Edinburg. Families can speak with local agencies, ask questions about fostering and adoption, and learn about available support.
CASA, short for Court Appointed Special Advocates, supports volunteer advocates who represent the best interests of children who have experienced abuse or neglect. The group says community participation can help more children find safety, stability and permanent homes close to their culture, schools and support systems.
The recruitment event is sponsored by the UTRGV School of Social Work. It is open to people who are considering foster care, adoption or simply want to learn more about the process.
Information about CASA’s programs and volunteer training is available at CASA of Hidalgo County or by calling 956-381-0346.
