Pharr EDC Plans Aug. 25 Workforce Job Fair

PHARR, Texas – The Pharr Economic Development Corporation will hold a Career and Connections Job Fair from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 25 at the Jose "Pepe" Salinas Event Center.

The event at 1011 W. Kelly Ave. is being organized with Workforce Solutions and Progressive Talent Solutions. More than 20 employers had confirmed participation when the event was announced.

Job seekers will be able to meet employers, learn about openings, submit resumes and discuss career paths in several industries. Pharr EDC said the fair is intended for people actively looking for work as well as residents considering a career change.

Workforce Solutions encouraged participants to visit one of its centers before the fair for help preparing a resume and practicing interview skills. Applicants should bring multiple current copies of their resume, identification and information they may need to complete an application.

Pharr EDC planned to identify participating companies and available positions through its social-media channels before the event. Reviewing those announcements can help applicants decide which employers to prioritize and prepare questions about qualifications, schedules and pay.

Victor Perez, Pharr EDC president and chief executive officer, said the event is designed to support both residents and companies trying to build their workforce. Economic and Workforce Director Leticia Adame said participating employers represent different career levels and industries.

Employers interested in joining the fair were directed to contact Pharr EDC. Admission details should be confirmed with the agency before the event.
